I have No Idea What Spinnortality Means

These days there are very valid fears surrounding massive corporations, the power that they wield and how much of the world they already control. Their influence is often terrifying, especially when you begin to research how only a few corporations own the vast majority of the media we consume. The point is, Spinnortality plays on problems in an entertaining strategy game about making money, pushing around governments and directing Earth toward the future you want. Oh, and you can build a giant laser on the moon. The general gist is easy to understand; a mysterious and shady board of very rich people have appointed you the new head of a corporation with the express goal of eventually researching technology that will make the board and yourself immortal. To do that you’ll need to amass a fortune by launching fancy new products across the world, and in order to do that you might have to nudge a few laws here or there. So, I subtly named my company Evil. Co and began my journey to the...

Roccat Horde Aimo Review

Review unit supplied free of charge by Roccat. There are few keyboards or mice that could be considered innovative, which is understandable; we’ve surely perfected them, right? In the world of keyboards, though,  Roccat have decided to smash two things together to create the first ever “membranical” keyboard, thereby making a unique product and massacring the English language at the same time. Despite the fancy naming this is still very much a membrane keyboard, meaning that there’s a single sheet of little rubber contact domes hiding underneath the keys rather than the individual switches that mechanical boards have. So does this weird Frankenstein’s Monster of a board actually work? The theory behind all of this mad-cap mayhem is to get the tactility of a mechanical keyboard without all of the noise that typically comes with it, offering something that doesn’t aim to replace or compete with mechanical keyboards as such but rather offer a step up for those who prefer membrane switc...

Can we maybe vote on the whole murdering people issue?

Designed by: Aaron Dill, Andrew Haught, John Kovaleski, Sean Sweigart Art by: Katie Dillon, Steve Ellis (I), Charles Woods Published by: Gale Force Nine Players: 1-5 Playtime: 90-120 Minutes Review copy supplied free of charge by Asmodee UK. Y‘know, it has been a while since I professed my undying and eternal love for Firefly, a cult sci-fi show that didn’t even get to run for a full season before it was callously canceled by those muppets at Fox, a crime so heinous that I still have not forgiven them. The point is for a show that only ran 14-episodes it still managed to spawn a feature film, various comics and now numerous board and card games. That’s a hell of a legacy. So, you open up the box and you’re greeted by a variety of smaller boxes containing the various pieces needed to play the game. But here’s the clever bit; these boxes double as buildings for use in the game, scenery that helps create a better sense of immersion as well as making line of sight much easier to ju...

Witches of the Revolution Board Game Review

Designed by: M. Craig Stockwell Published by: Atlas Games Players: 1-4 Playtime: 30-60 Minutes Review copy supplied free of charge by Esdevium Games It’s a little known historical fact that the American revolution was supported, and mostly won, by witches whose magic was capable of turning the entire tide of war. It’s a shame that the history books so rarely mention these brave folk who wielded arcane forces, yet their sacrifices for the cause were great. I mean, who else could possibly have dealt with the fact that Paul Revere was actually a werewolf? It is these facts that are so stupidly kept from our children in school in favor of teaching them utter rubbish like maths. Who the hell even uses maths!? At least, this is the history that Witches of the Revolution portrays, a co-operative deck-building game where you control a coven of witches and must recruit new members and handle a steady stream of events in a bid to complete your overarching objectives in aid of the American...
