Little Black Box Of Audio Wonder

Oh little black box of witchcraft, how do you work? Despite how much I appreciate amazing audio the mechanics behind it all are akin to black magic in my eyes. All I know is that sound is something that often gets overlooked from a gaming and filmgoing perspective, and spending the money to get something deliver that sound can change that perspective. It’s not until you splurge on a good set of headphones or a speaker system that you can appreciate how much you weren’t hearing. These days motherboards, even the cheap ones, provide surprisingly good audio to the point where the average person doesn’t need to worry about it. You can plug in any decent set of headphones or speakers and get pleasing results. But there are folk like me who just want better because we’re greedy like that.  With that said while I love getting the best quality I can I’m not an audiophile by most definitions, so this isn’t going to be a review filled with complex terms. No, this is a review from an average...

Black the Fall Review

Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4 Reviewed On: PC Developer: Sand Sailor Studio Publisher: Square Enix Singleplayer: Yes Multiplayer: No Review code provided free of charge by the publisher. Based on their childhood experiences in the communist-ruled nation of Romania the developers have managed to create a dystopian world that draws from their own memories of a country that only abandoned communist totalitarianism in 1989. Here they’ve taken their history and moulded it into a bleak vision of workers toiling away on dirty machines and stomping mechs that ensure none escape. Those who step out of line risk death at the hands of large supervisors and plentiful automated gun systems. It’s an oppressive atmosphere that is somehow still full of beautiful, bleak moments thanks to a strong visual style. The end product side-scrolling puzzler that takes some of its visual inspiration from Limbo without ever feeling like a clone. You’ll be playing as Black, though is name is never explicit...

Four Years Later, Players Are Still Digging Up New Black Ops 3 Easter Eggs

Call of Duty fans are still finding Easter eggs that were squirreled away deeply in Black Ops 3, four years after its release, thanks to dedicated data miners. Over the years, Call of Duty Zombies has become much more than simply a horde mode for surviving endless waves of the undead. Today, it’s well-known for being packed with complex story twists and hidden secrets, and has a community dedicated to rooting them out. Treyarch, the originator of Zombies, is known for hiding tons of surprises within its Zombies maps These Easter eggs could be something as small as a hidden item or coded message on the map, while larger eggs require specific actions to be performed to unlock a special weapon, song, or story-related cutscene. Treyarch senior executive producer Jason Blundell has long teased that undiscovered and perhaps impossible Easter eggs still remain in the Black Ops series. But maybe he didn’t count on data miners. Some of these otherwise undiscoverable eggs are now being unearthed...

Even Your Offline Mario Maker 2 Levels Aren’t Safe From Deletion

Screenshot: Nintendo Nintendo will delete Mario Maker levels from its servers for any number of reasons, be they glitches, inappropriate content, or unspecified offenses that leave creators baffled. This practice can be frustrating, but it was previously confined to levels that had already been uploaded and thus were obviously under Nintendo’s purview. It’s recently become clear, however, that even offline levels aren’t safe in Mario Maker 2. While watching the latest Ceave Gaming video, I was directed to instructions on how to create “black holes” in Mario Maker 2. Black holes—glitched-out areas where items can be layered atop each other and enemies can be cloned endlessly—were originally discovered in the first Mario Maker, but were thought to have been removed in the sequel until a new setup was found last week by Icay, another popular figure in the Mario Maker community. In just a few short steps, anyone can create a black hole in Mario Maker 2, giving them the ability to craft mu...
