Grab A Beer: What Are You Playing This Weekend?

I was going to start up this series last weekend, but I wound up getting gifted some tickets to go see one of my favourite bands, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, in Glasgow. It was awesome. That’s all. Just thought you should know. Anyway, the point here is that while I’m beyond privileged to get loads of viewers on this site I’d love to see more comments and chances to chat to people, so I’m hoping this will encourage some folks to jump on and start chatting. LET’S DO THIS! Firstly, I’ve been ramming my head repeatedly against a wall, a wall named Dead Cells. It’s a pixellated 2d rogue-like/rogue-lite (I really need to learn the difference) where death is commonplace and every little step forward is earned via gallons of your own blood. So far Dead Cells has gotten itself a load of critical praise from a bunch of sites and even managed to create a small scandal in the form of an IGN employee committing plagiarism, and I have to agree with the positive views; it’s a bloody good game ...

Next Level Racing Wheel Stand Lite Review

So maybe you’re like me and have gone and gotten a shiny new racing wheel so that you can spend hours upon hours screaming along rally courses or lapping Silverstone in a Ferrari F1 car. They tend to come with handy clamps that you can slap onto your desk which is awesome if you just want to race on your PC or something, but if you want to play on console in the living room things can get a bit trickier. That’s where stands come into play. There are a number of them on the market and today I’m reviewing one from the boys and girls over at Next Level Racing. Keep in mind this is the first one I’ve reviewed, so I’m not delving into comparisons between this stand and others that are available on the market, rather I’ll just be tackling this one using…common sense. Yes, a scary idea, I know, but I’m going to give it a whirl. if you were hoping that the LITE part of the name indicated something easily moved around then you’re in for some stinging dissapointment and a sprained back; at ar...

You Spin Me Right Round, Baby, Right Round

Designed by: Klemens Franz, Michael Menzel Published by: Pegasus Spiele Players: 2-4 Playtime: 70-120 Minutes Review copy supplied free of charge by Asmodee UK Noria is a deceptive game, its lovely artwork which features a massive floating mountain hanging high in the sky producing a myriad of thoughts about what its theme could be, but a wheel-building game of politics wasn’t quite what sprung to mind when I first saw it, I have to admit. But that’s what we’ve got. So, the game’s big selling point is the sizable, plastic three-tiered wheel on which three cardboard rings sit and can be rotated. Into these rings, you’ll be inserting little cardboard discs that control the various actions you can take throughout the game, with each ring being spun around to the next segment at the end of your turn and thus changing what you’ll be able to do on the next turn. The rules, though, do not adequately explain how activating your actions works. The general concept is that you get to act...

Roccat Kone Aimo Mouse Review

Review unit supplied on loan by Roccat. Roccat have slowly but surely building their reputation over the years having put out a number of mice and keyboards which have gotten critical and consumer acclaim, the most notable probably being their Kone line-up of mice. Thus far I’ve not reviewed anything from the company, so today marks a first. The first thing that struck me in the old brain when clutching the Kone Aimo is that it’s a chunky beast, the overall width, length and height putting it firmly into the category of larger mice for the larger person who has hands capable of choking lions. Now, this isn’t to say it’s somehow useless for us smaller handed folk, though, as I still found it to be reasonably comfortable overall. With the extra size comes extra weight and a rugged feeling build quality. This isn’t the lightest mouse, but given its size it’s not overly heavy either, I feel. There are no rubber grips added for comfort or to help stop your hand sliding about, but the so...
