Looks Like The Original Doom Games Are Coming To Switch As Soon As Today [Update]

Image: Bethesda (Doom ) Earlier this morning listings for the original Doom, Doom II, and Doom III briefly appeared on the Nintendo eShop, suggesting the trilogy is set to come to Switch, potentially as early today. Spotted by Nintendo Life, the listings for the iconic first-person shooters appeared on the Nintendo UK Switch website. While none of the games had an option to buy them, they each had prices and full descriptions. The original Doom and Doom II were both listed for £4 (approximately $5) and included four-player deathmatch and co-op. The first Doom was also listed as coming with the Episode IV: Thy Flesh Consumed expansion, including nine extra levels, while the listing for Doom II said it would come with Master Levels add-on. Doom III was listed for £8 (approximately $10) for the base game and the Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Missions expansion packs. Fighting Game Community Mourns Death Of Prominent Louisiana Player [Update]

A weekend that was supposed to be full of fun and excitement took a decidedly tragic turn when it was announced that fighting game competitor Bryand “Krucial B” McIntosh, 34, passed away shortly after competing at Defend the North in New York City. McIntosh was a prominent member of the Louisiana fighting game community, and those that knew him have been grieving publicly since learning the news of his death. In the days following McIntosh’s apparent death this past Saturday night, event attendees had shared complaints about the tournament’s handling of the heat wave that hit New England this past weekend, leading some to speculate that the tournament had not done enough to safeguard attendees from the high heat. However, no official information has emerged to indicate that the heat wave had anything to do with McIntosh’s passing. Kotaku has reached out to the tournament organizers, purported witnesses, and the hotel where the tournament took place for further details and has not yet h...

GTA Online's New Casino Is Great Even If You Aren't Rich

Grand Theft Auto Online’s casino update went live today. The Diamond Casino & Resort update adds a large list of new content, including new missions, cars, clothing options, and activities, making it one of the largest updates in GTA Online in some time. Players worried about how pricey this update would be might be surprised at how cheap some of it is. But players can also spend millions if they want to. Since the release of Grand Theft Auto Online, players have driven by an empty casino near the northern part of Los Santos. A big sign promised it was opening soon, but after years of waiting, it seemed the casino was going to remain closed forever. Recently, after some teasing in-game, Rockstar announced the casino would be opening. The old empty building has been replaced with a modern, fancy exterior. This is The Diamond Casino & Resort and it is the hottest place in the game. At the start of the update, players are given a short tour of the casino and then let loose to expl...

The Division 2’s Big New Update Is As Promising As It Confusing

Ubisoft’s sprawling loot shooter The Division 2 just received its biggest free update since its March launch...except most of it isn’t really free until next week, except for two parts that won’t even be free then, but some of the free stuff won’t be out until the week after next, and one promised part is on ice and…Shall we start this over? On Tuesday, The Division 2’s Title Update 5, which happens to also be considered the game’s first episodic expansion, was added to the game. There’s a chart for what’s in it: Advertisement The update includes two new missions that extend the game’s story, one of which I played last night and liked a lot. That mission, called Manning National Zoo, involves hunting down the leader of the enemy Outcast faction while fighting enemies throughout dilapidated wildlife exhibits. If it seemed like Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed artists were showing off with their downloadable content last week, well, check out what their Division 2 artists can do with a mission...

GTA Online’s New Casino Won’t Let Players In Some Countries Gamble

The most recent Grand Theft Auto Online update added a large new casino into the game, allowing players to buy chips, gamble and win big or lose everything. This casino has been teased in GTA Online for years, and many players were excited to jump online and finally play some blackjack with all the GTA dollars they’ve earned over the years. When some of those players arrived at the casino they discovered most of it was inaccessible due to gambling laws in their countries. Players in Iceland, Iran, Peru, and Vietnam, among other countries, say they can’t access a lot of the casino, reporting that they could enter the building, interact with other players and buy a penthouse but could not virtually gamble. When they try to, an error message appears on screen: “This feature is not available for you.” GTA Online’s casino functions like a real casino in many ways. Players use in-game money to buy chips, then use those chips to gamble at slot machines and table games. They can also bet on ho...
