How To Make Oculus Touch Controllers More Like Index Knuckles

With the rise of VR headsets there’s been a whole new industry for accessories appeared almost overnight, from prescription lenses to fancy gun stocks, both of which I’ll be reviewing shortly. Today I’m checking out the Mamut Touch Grips for the Oculus Rift, Oculus Rift S and Oculus Quest. These little bits of plastic aim to bring the Oculus Rift controllers more inline with Valve’s new Index Knuckle controllers. In other words, the Mamut Touch Grips allow you to let go of the controllers entirely. The Mamuts are essentially two rubber grips that slide onto the Oculus Rift Touch controllers. They extend and widen the handle and thus provide a bit more room for larger hands. On the outside of each Mamut there’s a textured surface to help improve your grip and overall they feel quite comfortable, though they don’t make a huge difference. The Oculus Rift S controllers were already quite comfy to hold, after all. But the big selling point are the straps that run across the back of your...

Weekend Whammy: Anno That Game, Zombies & Game of Thrones

Today I bathed my white German Shepard which is an immense task. I’ve got a small fenced in area which is perfect for the actual bathing part, but once he’s loose in the garden the fun begins. Getting dried is an excuse for him to run around the garden like a freaking lunatic, bouncing off of bushes, skidding around corners and sliding underneath the trees. It took something like three hours to get him bathed, semi-dried and semi-brushed. But he had heaps of fun and proceeded to collapse into a sleepy heap. It’s a hard life being a dog. But anyway. Lets get on with this, shall we? The first review of the week was of World War Z, a surprisingly fun co-op shooter with hefty Left 4 Dead influence. Without question the star of the show are the massive zombie hordes that just come pouring over the landscape. It’s heaps of fun on harder difficulty settings to hold off the tide of corpses with three other people. Ultimately I went in with no real expectations and came out the other side cov...

Steelseries Rival 600 Review

Review unit supplied free of charge by Steelseries. Steelseries have been on a roll really, pumping out a bunch of solid mice, keyboards and headsets that have all done rather well critically and commercially. The Rival series of mice in particular has got a lot of fans, and indeed it wasn’t that long ago I reviewed the Rival 700 with its little OLED screen. You should go read that review. Really. Do it. So now it’s time to gets all handsy with the Rival 600, a mouse that’s a full 100 less good than the 700, right? That’s how it works, yeah? It’s 2018 so we have to have that light-up bling, but this time Steelseries have upped their game with a total of eight points of customization, with the two thick strips atop the mouse each getting three zones to play with via the Steelseries Engine software. With this you can create some nice color blends or just slap the whole thing onto cycle mode so that it becomes a rainbow of color that is sure to attract any nearby unicorns looking for a...

Goblin Grapple Kickstarter Review

Ah Goblins. They got their big break in the Lord of the Rings movies, really. They’ve always been lurking in fantasy, but when Peter Jackson brought the epic books to life suddenly Goblins were all the rage, with everybody wanting to have them in their games and their books and their movies. And now look at them, the stars of their very own card game that is due to hit Kickstarter on May 6th. But is this a game worth backing? Should you be ponying up some cash? We kick off with the production quality. My review sample came encased in a lovely wooden box that is apparently a Kickstarter exclusive. What you get otherwise is a little cardboard box, a set of rules that have a few little hiccups in the explanation (there were a few arguments over whether armies were discarded between rounds) and a deck of 52 cards. These cards come with a finish that’s pretty nice on the fingers, though not the toughest so you might want to watch the edges. Meanwhile, the artwork looks good and has a dist...

Hand of Fate 2 Review

Platforms: PC, PS4 Reviewed On: PC Developed by: Defiant Entertainment Published by: Defiant Entertainment Singleplayer: Yes Multiplayer: No Review code provided free of charge by the publisher. 2015’s Hand of Fate from Defiant Entertainment was one of those genuinely wonderful surprises, a game that came out of nowhere with a small budget and a loving team who had a concept they wanted to turn into a reality. So over two years later we’ve got a sequel, and like the first game it has come out of nowhere. I didn’t even realize there was going to be a Hand of Fate 2 until the press release stating it was released landed in my inbox. Is this one a wonderful surprise, too? Once again you are taking on the role of a nameless hero playing a unique game (er, within a game) against the mysterious masked man known as the Dealer from the first Hand of Fate, his face and hands now sporting the scars he earned during that story. His incredibly hypnotic voice, acerbic wit and comments rema...
