Gun Club VR (PSVR) Review

Platforms: Oculus Rift, Vive, PSVR Reviewed On; PS4 Pro Developer: The Binary Mill Publisher: The Binary Mill Singleplayer: Yes Multiplayer: Leaderboards I t’s easy to criticize the amount of wave-based shooters available for VR, but the genre is especially suited to virtual reality, perhaps even more so with PSVR where real-life movement is limited. Gun Club VR is yet another wave-based shooter, sure, yet it wants to set itself apart with an emphasis on realism. Give it a few hours and you’ll feel like John freakin’ Wick. Just with, y’know, that gun-fu part. Or the dead puppy. Or the smashed car. So kick back and read my review of Gun Club VR. Before you get your hands on a gun the game quickly asks you to adjust your height until you feel happy, which is a great option to have included. You can also tweak the grip angle of weapons until you find the exact right setting for you. It’s not exactly as extensive as the raft of options in Borderlands 2 VR, but it’s solid enough. There...

Mothergunship Review

Platforms: PC Reviewed On: PC Developer: Grip Digital and Terrible Posture Games Publisher: Sold Out Singleplayer: Yes Multiplayer: No Review code provided free of charge by the publisher. D o you like guns? Do you like shooting guns? Do you like shooting lots and lots of enemies with those guns? Mothergunship might just be for you then, letting you click together guns like a deadly version of Lego. Want a lighting rod strapped to a flamethrower? You can do that! Or do you just want multiple barrels that fire spiky metal balls? You can do that too. You’ll be playing as a nameless recruit fighting in a war against alien invaders, done by clambering into their ships, shooting through a bunch of randomly selected rooms and then standing on the giant self-destruct button. Repeat potentially hundreds of times. If it sounds utterly stupid then that’s because it is and the game is wholly aware of that, playing into the fact with a merry sense of humour and a cast of characters such a...

Bullet Witch PC Port Review

Platforms: Xbox 360, PC Reviewed On: PC Developer: Marvelous Inc. Publisher: XSEED Games, Marvelous Inc. Singleplayer: Yes Multiplayer: No Review code supplied free of charge by the publisher. There are many games from the Xbox 360 and PS3 generation that never made it to PC but deserved to. For example, despite the pleas of thousands upon thousands of gamers a port of Red Dead Redemption never happened. But when you consider the vast catalogue of titles itching for a PC port Bullet Witch is not something that would spring to mind. This 2006 game was released to fairly middling reviews back in the day, and while it managed to sell a little in Japan it flopped almost entirely in UK. Now, some 12-years later a PC port has been released onto Steam with absolutely no fanfare, little warning and almost nothing in the way of changes. In other words, this is a game that was made on a tight budget, didn’t do very well and has suddenly turned up 12-years later out of the blue. Okay then...

The Lawyer With The Briefcase Can Steal More Money Than The Man With The Gun

Designed by: Eric Lang Published by: CMON Players: 2-5 Playtime: 60-90 Minutes Review copy supplied free of charge by Esdevium Games. The Godfather is one of the most well-known movies of all time, beloved by thousands upon thousands of people who sat in rapt attention as they watched the story of Don Vito Corleone, as played by Marlon Brando in his greatest performance. And now, since we live in a time where various licenses are being used to create great games we’re getting  a boardgame version of the movie courtesy of designer Eric Lang and publisher CMON. So is it an offer we can’t refuse? In true mafia fashion your goal is to control turf within New York, fulfil illicit jobs using ill-gotten goods and ultimately line your pockets with as much cash as possible, because whoever is richest at the end of the game walks away as the winner. You’ll be doing this through four acts (each named after the movie’s acts) by plopping down thugs and family members who’ll shake down bus...

Japanese And Taiwanese Flags Removed From Maverick's Jacket In New Top Gun

Screenshot: Paramount Pictures Top Gun: Maverick takes place decades after the original film, but in the trailer (and promotional poster), Maverick dons his old leather jacket. It might look like it’s the same as the one in the original film, but it’s not. As pointed out on Taiwan News and Toychan, a patch on Maverick’s leather jacket has been altered. Screenshot: Paramount via Toychan In the 1986 film, the patch read, “Far East Cruise 63-4 USS Galveston” and featured flags for the U.S., the United Nations, Japan, and Taiwan. According to Taiwan News, the patch references an actual U.S. Navy guided-missile cruiser that was deployed to the waters surrounding Taiwan and Japan. Advertisement For the sequel, the patch now reads “Indian Ocean Cruise 85-86 United States Navy” and no longer features the Japanese and Taiwanese flags. As noted on Military.com, it is unclear what these new flags refer to. The surrounding patches do not appear to have been altered. Advertisement China’s Tencent...
