Nintendo Doubles Super Mario Maker 2 Level Upload Limit

Super Mario Maker 2 has been out more than enough time for the most prolific creators to create tons of strange story missions, Kaizo deathtraps, and classic homages. It’s also been out for enough time to reach the course creation limit. Super Mario Maker 2 is doubling that limit, allowing players to make more courses. As heard through Eurogamer and confirmed by a quick peek into Super Mario Maker 2's notifications tab, the number of courses that players can upload has been increased from 32 to 64 levels. That’s twice the fun and twice the chances to have some fancy livestreamer stumble upon your level. The notification also states that there are plans to raise that upload limit one more time. Will that mean 128 total courses? Hopefully it’s not just 65 or some other super strange number. Still, this increase is good news for dedicated Mario makers who want to entertain and frustrate the masses with their levels.

Even Your Offline Mario Maker 2 Levels Aren’t Safe From Deletion

Screenshot: Nintendo Nintendo will delete Mario Maker levels from its servers for any number of reasons, be they glitches, inappropriate content, or unspecified offenses that leave creators baffled. This practice can be frustrating, but it was previously confined to levels that had already been uploaded and thus were obviously under Nintendo’s purview. It’s recently become clear, however, that even offline levels aren’t safe in Mario Maker 2. While watching the latest Ceave Gaming video, I was directed to instructions on how to create “black holes” in Mario Maker 2. Black holes—glitched-out areas where items can be layered atop each other and enemies can be cloned endlessly—were originally discovered in the first Mario Maker, but were thought to have been removed in the sequel until a new setup was found last week by Icay, another popular figure in the Mario Maker community.
