Upgrade, Or Downgrade?

The Oculus Rift S is not the next big Rift that we’ve all been waiting for, and Oculus themselves have been careful not to advertise it as one. No, the Oculus Rift S is…uh. Honestly, the problem is I don’t think anyone is sure what the S actually is. It isn’t an upgrade nor arguably even a refinement as many of the improvements have come at the expense of other features. So, let’s review the Oculus Rift S and try to figure who this VR headset is really for. I’ll preface the review by saying I upgraded from the original Rift to the Oculus Rift S, so I’m familiar with the Oculus Rift and am writing this review from the perspective of someone who made the sacrifice. Oculus Rift S Packaging, Comfort & Build But before we delve deep into the headset itself let’s stop and quickly chat about the packaging. I know, I know, does the box it comes in make a difference? Not really, but in some ways the packaging for the Oculus Rift S is indicative of the system as a whole. Unboxing the ori...

Spyro: Reignited Trilogy Review

Platforms: Xbox One, PS4 Reviewed On: PS4 Pro Developer: Toys for Bob Publisher: Activision Singleplayer: Yes Multiplayer: No While the storied history of Insomniac Games began with Disruptor in 1998 it was the release of Spyro the Dragon in 1999 that put them on the map. Two sequels would follow, and the three games would tally up sales of over 8-million collectively while Insomniac went on to create Ratchet & Clank and Resistance before releasing Marvel’s Spider-Man earlier this year. This is basically a rebuild of the three games from the ground up, including a whole new engine, tightened controls, character redesigns and more. Taking such a beloved classic series and altering aspects of the gameplay or design is a risky proposition since die-hard fans expect nothing less than perfection and are always ready to ravenously des...

Sigma Is Tearing Up The Overwatch Playbook

Sigma, Overwatch’s newest hero, has descended onto the PC public test server, and already, he’s making a craterous impact. The gravity-manipulating tank has an ult of otherworldly power, but ultimately, it hinges on a simple principle: What goes up must come down. Players are using it to pull off some absolutely devious plays. When people first saw Sigma’s ult in action, many a tooth was revealed in a sudden spread of malicious grins. The ult lifts both Sigma and a selection of foes into the air, and then those foes get slammed into the ground and lose 50 percent of their maximum HP. Longtime players realized that Sigma could be a perfect solution to overtime stalemates where one team just can’t quite peel the other off the point. Here’s that idea in action, as demonstrated by Holajz. Your browser does not support HTML5 video tag.Click here to view original GIF One moment, the team is hunkered down. The next, they’re hunkered significantly less down. During this time, the overtime time...
